Low Energy Singlets in the Excitation Spectrum of the Spin Tetrahedra System Cu2Te2O5Br2
نویسنده
چکیده
Low energy Raman scattering of the s=1/2 spin tetrahedra system Cu2Te2O5Br2 is dominated by an excitation at 18 cm corresponding to an energy ES = 0.6∆, with ∆ the spin gap of the compound. For elevated temperatures this mode shows a soft mode-like decrease in energy pointing to an instability of the system. The isostructural reference system Cu2Te2O5Cl2 with a presumably larger inter-tetrahedra coupling does not show such a low energy mode. Instead its excitation spectrum and thermodynamic properties are compatible with long range Néel-ordering. We discuss the observed effects in the context of quantum fluctuations and competing ground states.

حالت RVB بهینه در شبکه مربعی: حالت پایه و برانگیخته
We consider RVB state as a variational estimate for the ground state of Heisenberg antiferromagnet in square lattice. We present numerical calculation of energy, spin-spin correlation function and spin excitation spectrum. We show, that the quantum flactuations reduce of magnetization respect to Neel order. Our results are in good agreement with other methods such as spin-wave calculation a...
متن کاملDiscrete Levels Density and Spin Cut off Parameters of the 36Cl, 40K, 60Co and 61Ni Nucleuses
On the bases of Bethe and the constant temperature models, the level density parameters have been calculated for the 36Cl, 40K, 60Co and 61Ni nuclei, nucleuses through fitting the complete level schemes in low excitation energy levels. Both calculations reproduce experimental level densities equally well. Th...
متن کاملRVB description of the low-energy singlets of the spin 1/2 kagomé antiferromagnet
Extensive calculations in the short-range RVB (Resonating valence bond) subspace on both the trimerized and the regular (non-trimerized) Heisenberg model on the kagomé lattice show that short-range dimer singlets capture the specific low-energy features of both models. In the trimerized case the singlet spectrum splits into bands in which the average number of dimers lying on one type of bonds ...
متن کاملMagnon spectrum of the helimagnetic insulator Cu2OSeO3.
Complex low-temperature-ordered states in chiral magnets are typically governed by a competition between multiple magnetic interactions. The chiral-lattice multiferroic Cu2OSeO3 became the first insulating helimagnetic material in which a long-range order of topologically stable spin vortices known as skyrmions was established. Here we employ state-of-the-art inelastic neutron scattering to com...
متن کاملDynamic spin Jahn-Teller effect in small magnetic clusters
We study the effect of spin-phonon coupling in small magnetic clusters, concentrating on a S=1/2 ring of 4 spins coupled antiferromagnetically. If the phonons are treated as classical variables, there is a critical value of the spin-phonon coupling above which a static distortion occurs. This is a good approximation if the zero point energy is small compared to the energy gain due to the distor...
